Recording Grades for High School

The second semester of each year is cumulative. This means that you need to add the points earned in the 1st semester to the points earned in the 2nd semester, divide by 2; then turn those points into a letter grade. The new report cards will have a new column for this cumulative grade. If you are unsure what letter grade to use, we will figure that for you when we do the transcripts. You can just write the points in the cumulative column. The points for each letter grade are listed in the chart below.

Example:

1st semester = A+ (4.33 pts); 2nd semester = B- (2.67 pts)

4.33 + 2.67 = 7.00pts / 2 = 3.50 (B+ is the closest letter grade)
